The United States intends to transfer two more Island-class patrol boats to Ukraine soon. Acting Assistant Secretary of State announced this on Tuesday for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker.

“We will continue to work with Ukraine in a bilateral format to strengthen, for example, [its] naval potential in the Black Sea. In addition, we look forward to handing over two Island-class patrol boats to Ukraine, as I understand it, later this month. In addition to the two that we provided in November 2019,” said the official of the US Foreign Ministry. He spoke at an Internet conference held by the non-governmental American-Ukrainian Foundation. In March, the Pentagon announced the provision of another $125 million military aid package to Ukraine. It consisted mainly of two Mark IV patrol boats. According to the US Department of Defense, since 2014, Washington has provided more than $2 billion in military assistance to Kyiv.
