The United States imposed new sanctions because of the “Nord stream-2”

The United States has imposed sanctions against two Russian citizens and one vessel related to the construction of the “Nord stream -2,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken said.

In a statement issued by the press service of the State Department, the names and names of the ship are not given.

According to the official, the specified vessel belongs to one of the “listed persons.”

Earlier on Friday, U.S. President Joe Biden informed Congress that he had signed a decree that allows the heads of the Department of State or the Ministry of Finance to impose economic restrictions on “certain energy projects” related to Russia, including the “Nord stream-2.” According to the head of state, the document is aimed at maintaining the energy security of Europe.

The gas pipeline itself is almost completed. As Vladimir Putin said today at a press conference following talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, only 15 kilometers of pipe remain to be laid by sea. Putin urged to consider the statements that the “Nord stream-2” is a political project as an attempt to mislead. The President recalled that this pipe is two thousand kilometers shorter than the Ukrainian transit route.
