Military equipment belonging to the 173rd Airborne Infantry Brigade and the 18th Brigade of the Military Police of the US Army has been delivered from Romania to Georgia to participate in the multinational Agile Spirit 2021 exercises, which will be held from July 26 to August 6. This was reported on Wednesday in the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.
“The cargo ship OBIRI entered the port of Poti from the Romanian port of Constanta, delivering HMMWV armored vehicles and various logistics support equipment belonging to the 173rd Airborne Infantry Brigade and the 18th brigade of the military police of the US Army,” the report says.
American equipment from the port has already been delivered to the Vaziani (near Tbilisi) and Orfolo (Samtskhe-Javakheti region) training grounds, where the theater of exercises will be deployed directly. The personnel taking part in the maneuvers will arrive in the republic in stages, the Georgian Defense Ministry added.
The multinational Agile Spirit 2021 exercises will be held in Georgia for the tenth time. It is expected that 2.5 thousand servicemen from Azerbaijan, Great Britain, Germany, Georgia, Spain, Italy, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, the United States, Turkey, Ukraine and Estonia will take part in them this year. More than 1.5 thousand of them are Georgian servicemen, another 700 are American.
