US energy Minister Dan Brouillette said he was extremely disappointed with the outcome of negotiations under the OPEC+ agreement. His dissatisfaction was caused by the position of Mexico, which is not ready to reduce production by the required 400 thousand barrels per day.
“As we all know, several countries discussed an agreement to withdraw 10 million barrels a day from the market, but the agreement never materialized. This is extremely disappointing.”
The US energy Ministry stressed that it is necessary to quickly stabilize the world’s energy markets and fully restore the economy. In the US itself, oil production may fall by 2-3 million barrels per day by the end of the year.
As it became known on April 10, Mexico still agreed to reduce oil production after a call from US President Donald Trump. At the same time, the States took an additional voluntary reduction of 250 thousand barrels.
The Kremlin positively evaluated the deal and assured of its benefits for everyone. At the same time, Russia will be forced to reduce production more than in other countries.
