The United States condemned the violence on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border

The State Department called on the parties to observe the ceasefire.

The United States condemns in the strongest terms the violence on the internationally recognized border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This is stated in a statement released on Monday by the state Department.

“We urge the parties to immediately stop using force, use existing direct lines of communication to avoid further escalation, and strictly observe the ceasefire,” state Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said in a statement.

“As co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, the United States remains firmly committed to helping the parties achieve a lasting peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We will continue to participate in efforts to achieve this goal actively,” the document emphasizes.

The statement of the Foreign Ministry also emphasizes that OSCE observers should be returned to the region.
