Cooperation between States, the embodiment of which was the creation of the UN, can help avoid third world war, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in an interview.

“I think cooperation between States, which is an example of the creation of the UN itself, helped prevent the horrors of a new world war – it can continue to help prevent war,” Guterres said, answering a question about whether there is now a threat of a third world war.

He pointed out that because of the tragedy of the Second World War; the international community had come together and decided to create the United Nations to strengthen international peace and security.
