U.S. Republican Senator Rick Scott called for a parliamentary investigation of the actions of US President Joe Biden on the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan and questioned the ability of the head of state to perform official duties.
“After the horrific events in Afghanistan, we must answer a serious question: is Biden capable of fulfilling his official duties, or is it time to apply the provision of the 25th Amendment?” Scott wrote on Twitter.
The 25th Amendment to the American Constitution describes the procedure for early termination of the powers of the President of the United States. In particular, Democrats called for its use against the former head of state Donald Trump after the January storming of the Capitol. The power in case of activation of the specified norm should pass to the vice-president.
Scott said that Biden failed the operation to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan, giving the republic to the same people who ruled it during the attack on New York on September 11, 2001.
He called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to launch an investigation into the president’s actions. “Schumer and Pelosi should immediately launch a bipartisan, bicameral investigation,” Scott wrote.
