The U.S. is “concerned” about the composition of the Taliban government in Afghanistan

Washington will monitor the further actions of the Taliban.

The United States is concerned about the composition of the new Afghan government, which was announced by representatives of the Taliban movement on Tuesday. Still, it will assess the situation based on further actions of the Taliban, including allowing Afghans to leave the country. This was announced on Tuesday by the Department of State.

“We note that the list of names announced by the Taliban consists exclusively of persons who are members of the Taliban movement or their close associates, and not a single woman was included in it,” said Ned Price, Department of State spokesman, immediately after Secretary of State Antony Blinken held talks in Qatar about Afghanistan.

“We are also concerned about the connections and track record of some of these people,” Price added. “We understand that the Taliban presented this cabinet as an interim one. However, we will judge the Taliban by their actions, not by their words.”
