The temporary President of the Senate, Grassley, became infected with the coronavirus

An 87-year-old lawmaker from Iowa is on self-isolation.

87-year-old Republican Senator Chuck Grassley tweeted that his covid-19 test came back positive. Earlier, he stated that he intends to self-isolate after possible contact with an infected person.

“I tested positive for coronavirus,” Grassley wrote. – I will follow the instructions of doctors and recommendations of the Centers for disease control and prevention and continue the quarantine. I feel good. I will continue to work for the benefit of the people of Iowa from home. I thank everyone for their good wishes and prayers and look forward to returning to my usual schedule soon.”

As President Pro tempore of the Senate, Grassley is the ranking Republican in the house.
