It will take place at the Villa La Grange on the shores of Lake Geneva.

Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden will meet at the Villa La Grange in Geneva on June 16. This was announced on Thursday by the official representative of the Swiss Foreign Ministry.

“The meeting will take place at the Villa La Grange in Geneva on June 16,” she said.

A message on the Foreign Ministry’s Twitter page notes that “Switzerland thanks to the two countries for the trust expressed by the choice of Geneva” as the venue for the summit.

Villa La Grange, built in the 18th century, is located in the middle of a park of more than 21 hectares, located on the shore of Lake Geneva, on the outskirts of the city. This is the largest city park, which is a favorite place for citizens to relax. Since 1917, the villa has been owned by the city. Now there is a library, guided tours for tourists. From June 8 to 18, the villa is closed to visitors, and metal fences are erected around the park. Landscaping works are being carried out in the park. On June 9, the cantonal authorities of Geneva announced increased security measures from June 14 to 17. In particular, it is prohibited to fly drones over the entire territory of the canton. The quays of Geneva, the water area, as well as the Park La Grange, and the adjacent Park Eaux-Vives are included in the security perimeter with a special control regime.
