The Supreme сourt of Venezuela has banned the leader of the opposition, Juan Guido to travel outside of the Bolivarian Republic of and decided to block access to its Bank accounts. On Tuesday reported on Twitter instance.
“The Supreme сourt in decision № 1 of January 29 decided the following measures against Juan Gerardo Guaido Marquez: a ban on leaving the country without permission until the completion of the investigation; a ban on the sale of assets owned, as well as blocking access and freezing of Bank accounts and/or any other financial instruments in Venezuela,” — said in a statement.
Not all members of the Supreme court of Venezuela supported the decision to ban opposition leader Juan Guфido to leave the country. This was reported by the newspaper El Nacional.
According to her, the judge Marisela Godoy in protest left a press conference at which the Chairman of the armed forces Michael Moreno announced the adopted restrictions against Guaido. The judge Danilo Mohika, in turn, wrote on Twitter that he did not support the decision, “as it contradicts articles 99 and 102 of the law on the Supreme court.”
Earlier, Prosecutor General of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab announced the launch of a preliminary investigation in respect of Guaido. According to him, the investigation is connected with “acts of violence that have occurred in the country since January 22.” The United States in response threatened “serious consequences for those who will cause harm to the policy.”
According to the Office of the UN Commissioner for human rights, at least 40 people have died in Venezuela since January 22.
