The State of Rhode Island in the United States postponed the primaries due to coronavirus

The State of Rhode Island in the United States postponed the primaries on the background of coronavirus, the Governor of the state Gina Raimondo said on Twitter.

“Last week, the election Commission demanded that the presidential primaries be moved from April 28 to June 2, and that voting be conducted mainly by mail. I will follow the Commission’s advice and sign the relevant decree,” Raimondo said.

Earlier, primaries were postponed in seven States – Indiana, Connecticut, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland and Ohio, and in Ohio this was done last week at the last moment before the scheduled vote.

There are already more than 40,000 cases of coronavirus in the US, and more than 480 people have died.
