Comedy Central, a subsidiary of ViacomCBS, continues to grow its adult animated series. Almost 25 years later, the series “The Ren and Stimpy Show” about the Chihuahua dog Ren and his stupid friend, the Manx Stimpy, will return to the screens. The original series aired in 1991-1996 on Nickelodeon and MTV and was canceled due to provocative humor and unnecessary brutality.
ViacomCBS spokesman Chris McCarthy said:
We’re incredibly inspired to reimagine this iconic franchise with the help of our creative team and in partnership with Nickelodeon Animation Studios. Ren and Stimpy join our rapidly expanding list of adult animations. We continue to reimagine intellectual treasures for new generations.
