The President of the Philippines threatened the population with prison for refusing to vaccinate

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has threatened the country’s population with prison for refusing to vaccinate against COVID-19. This is written by The Guardian.

“Choose: either gets vaccinated, or I’ll put you in jail. Don’t get me wrong, it’s just a crisis situation in the country. It just annoys me that the Filipinos don’t even need a government,” the politician said.

The Guardian notes that the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines is really worrying for the authorities: there, more than 1.3 million infected people were identified and more than 23 thousand died from complications of the disease.

According to the latest data, about 2.1 million people have been vaccinated in the country. At the same time, the authorities ‘ goal is to vaccinate 70 of the 110 million population.

In the Philippines, the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, the American Pfizer/BioNTech, the British AstraZeneca, and the Chinese Sinovac have been approved for emergency use.
