The police officer who was injured in the incident at the Capitol died

One officer died of his injuries after an incident outside the U.S. Capitol building, Capitol police said at a news conference.

“One police officer died from his injuries,” the press conference said.

Earlier, the Capitol police informed that an unknown person crashed a car into two officers at a checkpoint near the US Congress building, they were taken to the hospital. The suspect was taken into custody. MSNBC reported that at least one person was shot. Several streets are closed in Washington due to the incident. NBC News reports that the driver of a car that rammed a checkpoint in Washington near the US Congress building has died.
