The pilots flew around the Eiffel Tower in honor of the transfer of the Olympic flag to Paris

After two flights, the sky over the city was painted in the colors of the flag of France.

The French aerobatic team Patrouille de France flew light attack aircraft over the Champ de Mars in honor of the transfer of the Olympic flag to Paris. After two flights of the Eiffel Tower, the sky over the capital was painted in the colors of the French tricolor.

“See you in Paris in 2024!” said French President Emmanuel Macron on his Twitter page, who is in the summer residence – Fort Bregancon. The French leader posted his entry in Japanese, thus congratulating Tokyo on the successful holding of this year’s Olympics.

According to the original scenario, the Paris City Hall planned to strengthen the flag weighing half a ton and the size of a football field on the top of the Eiffel Tower at the time of the closing ceremony of the Tokyo Games. However, this decision was canceled at the last moment because the safety of a complex technical operation could not be guaranteed due to weather conditions.

The closing ceremony of the Tokyo Games was broadcast in the Olympic village, which has been working on Trocadero Square since the beginning of the Olympics. Thousands of Parisians, who were looking forward to this moment, greeted the transfer of the Olympic banner to the French delegation in Tokyo with a stormy ovation.

Paris is hosting the Olympic Games relay for the third time. They were held earlier in 1900 and 1924. But then, raising a flag of such gigantic dimensions was a technically impossible task. The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11.
