The Pentagon will check for the Navy’s coronavirus and all the forces of the “nuclear triad”

The US Department of defense will test for coronavirus all naval forces and forces of the “nuclear triad,” said the Chairman of the joint chiefs of staff of the US armed forces, General Mark Milley.

“All ship crews will be isolated for 14 days, with special emphasis on nuclear strategic submarines and the submarine fleet, especially the nuclear triad. All these crews are being checked before departure as tests (for coronavirus) become available,” Milley said at a press conference.

The decision to check was made after an outbreak of coronavirus occurred on the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt.

“We are doing the same with other critical components of the nuclear triad – Intercontinental ballistic missiles, strategic aviation… some rapid deployment forces. This is prioritizing forces to conduct checks (for coronavirus) and quarantine to ensure that we have adequate capacity and readiness to deploy quickly if necessary in any particular emergency,” the General added.
