The Pentagon increases the number of soldiers on the border with Mexico in six times

The US Department of defense has decided to send an additional 3,750 troops to the southwestern portion of the border with Mexico to support the US Border customs officers there.

This will increase the total number of active forces on the border to about 4350 troops,” — said the Pentagon representative. It follows from this statement that the number of military personnel at the border will increase by about six times – Reports Free News

The Ministry added that additional military units will be deployed at the border for 90 days.

In addition to military personnel, mobile surveillance systems will be installed at the border, as well as 240 km of barbed wire between the inspection points.
On Thursday, the US media reported about sending 3,500 troops to the southern section of the US border with Mexico. Later, Donald Trump confirmed these plans.
“More soldiers are sent to the southern border to stop attempts of invasion of illegal immigrants following large caravans to our country. We stopped the previous caravans, and we will stop these, ” he promised on Twitter.

Trump also accused the Mexican authorities that they, in his opinion, do not do anything to stop migrants who are trying to get into the caravans on American territory.

Caravans of migrants from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador began to move towards the United States through Mexico last fall. Some of the migrants were deported, others decided to stay in Mexico, the rest are near the American border.

This week there were also reports that another caravan of about 2,400 people went to the US border from the Mexican capital.
