We are talking about Igor Fruman.
One of the partners of Rudolph Giuliani – the former lawyer of former U.S. President Donald Trump – Igor Fruman pleaded guilty to one of the charges brought against him by the federal authorities. As CNN reported on Friday, he agreed with the accusation of attracting foreign funds to finance election campaigns in the United States.
In 2019, the prosecutor’s Office of the Southern District of New York filed charges against four American entrepreneurs who were Giuliani’s partners. Lev Parnas, Igor Fruman, Andrey Kukushkin, and David Correia were accused of violating laws prohibiting attracting foreign funds to finance election campaigns in the United States. In addition, they allegedly acted as figureheads in the framework of lobbying campaigns. Parnas and Fruman are also suspected of getting Marie Yovanovitch to resign from the post of the American ambassador in Kyiv in the interests of a certain Ukrainian official.
Giuliani became the focus of media attention after a major scandal began in Washington in September 2019 over allegations that Trump exerted pressure on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky during a telephone conversation to encourage Kyiv to help the head of the Washington administration to be re-elected for a second term in 2020. There were suggestions that the American leader, with the assistance of Giuliani, sought from his Ukrainian counterpart to investigate the actions of the son of the current U.S. president, Democrat Joe Biden, in exchange for providing financial and military assistance to Kyiv. The House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress, controlled by the Democratic Party, announced the launch of impeachment proceedings against the Republican Trump, who was eventually acquitted based on such suspicions.
