About 9.85 million viewers watched the broadcast of the Academy Awards ceremony in the United States on Sunday evening, which is 13.75 million less than last year. This is evidenced by the preliminary data of TV ratings, which is cited on Monday by Variety magazine.

The rating of the ceremony – the percentage of viewers who watched at least part of the broadcast-was 1.9. This figure was 5.3 (23.6 million viewers) last year, the year before – 7.7 (29.6 million viewers).

Due to the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, the organizers had to reduce the scale of the ceremony significantly. The main part was held in a chamber format in the amphitheater of the Los Angeles Union Station train station.
