The death toll from the coronavirus in Italy exceeded 10 thousand, 889 people died in a day, said the head of the Italian civil defense service, Angelo Borrelli.
“As of today, 70,065 Italians have been infected, and this figure has increased by 3,651 patients per day,” Borrelli said at a Saturday evening briefing.
The current data on those who were cured is sharply higher than in previous days and is the highest since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak.
“889 people died. 12,384 people recovered, compared to yesterday, the number increased by 1,434,” Borrelli said. Thus, the number of victims was 10,023. The day before, 589 patients recovered.
The day before, 969 deaths were registered, which was a negative record for the entire time of the pandemic in Italy. A day earlier, the number of deaths was 662.
According to Borrelli, the total number of cases of infection, including those who died and recovered, reached almost 92.4 thousand. The day before, the same figure was 86.4 thousand people, exceeding the number of people infected in China.
