The number of people infected with coronavirus in South Korea has reached 9786 people

South Korea registered 125 new cases of COVID-19 coronavirus infection in a day, 180 people recovered, the total number of infected people increased to 9,786, and 162 people died, the organization of the centers for disease control and prevention (KCDC) under the Ministry of the health of the Republic reported.

Previously, 158 victims of the virus were reported. South Korea has raised the epidemiological threat level to the highest. The city of Taegu and three cities in Kyonsan-Pukto province were designated as special disaster zones. Until April 5, residents were asked once again not to leave their homes, close sports, entertainment, and religious institutions.

According to the KCDC at midnight on Tuesday, of the new cases, 60 were found in Taegu city, 24 in Seoul, another 13 in Gyeonggi-do province, and the remaining cases are from different areas across the country. Four more people were killed, the total number of victims is 162, 180 people were discharged from hospitals over the past day, and the total number of people who recovered has grown to 5408. Tests of 16,892 people are still in operation, in total, South Korea has conducted more than 383 thousand tests for coronavirus.

The total number of infected people in Seoul reached 450, in Taegu-6684, 1,300 were infected in Kyonsan-Pukto province, and another 476 people in Gyeonggi-do province. There are only 119 cases in Pusan. More than 5 thousand persons (53,4%) among all the infected are connected with the sect of “Sinchonri.” In total, 84.1% of cases are associated with collective infections in the country.

The start of studies in all schools and pre-school institutions was postponed for the fourth time. Now South Korea will start the new school year on April 9, and lessons will be held online for the first time. In this regard, the schedules of exams and admission to institutes will be adjusted.

The government also promised to pay financial assistance to all but 30% of the highest-income households. Depending on the number of family members, citizens will receive from 400 thousand to one million won. 10.3 trillion won (approximately $ 8.4 billion) will be allocated to help 14 million low-income families. South Korean President Moon Jae-in also said that the government intends to provide a second crisis budget of 7.1 trillion won ($5.8 billion).

Up to 50% of new cases of coronavirus infection in the past week are coming from COVID-19 covered Europe and the United States, most of which are Korean citizens. Everyone entering the country must be tested for coronavirus and deployed at the border if they refuse to install an application for transmitting health data. The app uses GPS to track whether a person leaves their assigned isolation area. Penalties for violating the quarantine vary in severity, including police interception, criminal proceedings, and even forced deportation.

Even for those travelers from Europe and the United States, whose first analysis did not show the presence of coronavirus, mandatory two-week quarantine has already been introduced, and from April 1 it will be extended to all other countries, while tests for coronavirus will be carried out at the airport. Visitors without a permanent address of residence in Korea will have to undergo quarantine in special treatment centers with accommodation in single rooms, which are created based on various institutes of advanced training of the boarding type.

Those placed in such institutions are provided with kits with thermometers and basic medicines, as well as underwear, toiletries, and masks, providing free food. A small number of doctors and nurses there only monitor the health of patients, mainly by phone, and in case of deterioration decide to move to the hospital. After two weeks of such quarantine, in the case of two negative tests for coronavirus with a difference of 24 hours, people are discharged.
