The number of illegal immigrants detained at the border with Mexico rose sharply in June

However, it is significantly lower than last year’s figures.

The US border patrol service in June detained about 30,000 migrants trying to cross the border from Mexico, which is 41 percent more than in May.

The flow of migrants continued, even though severe border restrictions imposed by President Donald Trump in connection with the coronavirus remain in force.

According to statistics published by the Customs and border protection service, approximately 90 percent of those detained in June were adults who crossed the border alone.

Despite a gradual increase in the number of detainees in May and June, this figure remains significantly lower than last year’s level, when in May it reached a peak of 133 thousand people.
