The number of deaths due to coronavirus in the world exceeded 2.5 million

The number of infected exceeded 112.67 million.

To date, 2,501,678 deaths of the disease caused by the infection have been registered in the world. The number of infected people exceeded 112.67 million. Thus, approximately 2.22% of those infected died.

The largest number of victims – 508,170 people-was recorded in the United States, where the total number of infected reached 28,436,887. Brazil takes the second position in terms of the number of victims (249,957 deaths, 10,324,463 cases of infection), the third – by Mexico, where 182,815 deaths were recorded and more than 2 million infected people were registered. India follows this with 156,744 deaths and the United Kingdom, where 121,747 people died.

1 million deaths due to COVID were recorded on September 28, 2020, 1.5 million on December 4, and 2 million on January 15.
