The fifteenth case of coronavirus infection was registered in the United States among American citizens evacuated from Wuhan, the Center for disease control and prevention (CDC) said on Thursday.
It is reported that the patient was quarantined at a military base in Texas after being evacuated from Wuhan on February 7. He is now isolated and receiving medical care in a hospital.
“As a result, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the United States has reached 15. New cases are likely to be reported in the coming days and weeks, including among other people who have recently returned from Wuhan,” the center said in a press release. It is noted that more than 600 people are in quarantine.
The US authorities are taking a number of measures against the virus. Direct flights to China have been discontinued, and foreigners who have recently visited China are no longer allowed to enter the United States. Several hundred Americans evacuated from the Chinese province of Hubei were placed in a two-week quarantine.
