The new wing of the aircraft can change its length right in flight

Inventor Mike Paty designed a wing that changes length in flight.

The inventor has created an experimental aircraft with a transforming wing: it can be extended up to 40 cm to reduce speed and change the angle of attack during takeoff and landing.

The wings are custom designed with double slats on the leading edge, and there are large flaps and lowered ailerons on the trailing edge.

The slats form an almost seamless part of the wing, but they can expand: they are designed so that the center of the lift is close to the center of the wing.

Without slats, the pilot would have to use almost all the power of the elevator to adjust the flaps and keep the nose up.
