The Mexican became the winner of Miss Universe

The representative of Peru Yanik Castillo took the third place; the second was the Brazilian Julia Gama.

The representative of Mexico, Andrea Meza, became the winner of the Miss Universe beauty contest this year. The event was broadcast from the state of Florida on Sunday on the FYI TV channel.

Miss Universe 2019, representative of South Africa Zozibini Tunzi, presented the diamond crown to the 26-year-old winner from Chihuahua. The representative of Peru Yanik Costillo took the third place; the second was the Brazilian Julia Gama. Meza works as a programmer, supports tourism in the state of Chihuahua, and advocates against gender-based violence. In the final part of the ceremony, after the swimsuit competition, 10 contestants entered, after questions from the jury, the number of applicants was reduced to five. As a result, representatives of five countries – Peru, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, India, and Mexico-competed for the victory, where they had the last opportunity to win the favor of the jury with a speech on the proposed topic. Meza spoke about beauty standards and their changes over time.
