By the end of 2020, the legendary Playboy magazine will no longer be published in print. However, so far we are talking only about the United States. The editorial board itself reported this in its letter.
According to the magazine’s owners, this decision was indirectly influenced by the coronavirus epidemic, which slowed production and disrupted delivery times. But the global reason is the decline in interest in the printed version.
— We have decided that our “Spring 2020” issue, which will be published on newsstands in the United States, will be our last print publication for the year in the United States. We will switch to publishing in digital format,” the editorial Board writes.
Playboy magazine was founded in 1953 and reached a peak of popularity in the early 1970s, when the circulation was 5.6 million copies per month.
But gradually, with the development of the Internet, its popularity began to fall. Since 2019, the magazine has been published quarterly.
