The head of the Pentagon: the US has no desire to conflict with China

The United States is striving for “constructive and stable” relations with China, said Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin.

“From the very beginning, you heard the President (US Joe Biden) say that the relations with China that we are striving for are not relations of discord. We compete as great economic powers, our two countries have impressive military power, but we do not seek a conflict with China,” Austin said.

According to the minister, by “stable relations” Washington means contacts with the Chinese military in potential crises.

“We hope that we will be able to cooperate with China in the face of common challenges, especially the threat of climate change,” the Pentagon chief said.
