The head of the European Parliament called for the creation of the EU Security Council

The head of the European Parliament (EP) Antonio Tajani supports the creation of the EU Security Council. He said this on Thursday at a press conference on the sidelines of the informal EU summit in Sibiu.

“With regard to defense policy, our priority is to strengthen foreign policy through the idea of a permanent Security Council, which would be headed by the EU high representative for foreign affairs and foreign policy,” he said.

In this regard, Tajani stressed that “the EU should not continue to take decisions on some issues by unanimity.” “We need to move to majority voting,” he added.
