Andrew Cuomo noted that this principle is already in effect at stadiums and in music halls.
“This principle is already in effect at stadiums, in music halls. Now I am asking private businesses, I suggest that it – bars, restaurants – go to the admission of only vaccinated people,” he said at a press conference that was broadcast on his website.
Additional measures to combat the coronavirus are being introduced due to the spread of the delta variant of the infection. According to the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it accounts for more than 83% of cases of coronavirus infection in the United States. At the same time, according to the CDC report on the situation with the coronavirus in Provincetown (Massachusetts), even vaccinated people can become infected with the delta variant and become its distributors. Against this background, the CDC has already recommended returning to wearing masks indoors, regardless of the vaccination status.
In New York, at the state level, a return to the mask regime has not yet occurred. At a press conference, Cuomo called for the use of masks again but did not formalize this requirement with any order, which makes it only a recommendation. However, some institutions, offices, and residential complexes in recent days have published updated rules requiring everyone on their territory, including those vaccinated, to wear masks.
