The first case of coronavirus was diagnosed at the Guantanamo base

The first case of infection with the COVID–19 coronavirus was recorded at the US armed forces base Guantanamo in Cuba, the sick sailor was isolated, the military said on Tuesday.

“A sailor stationed at the Guantanamo naval base has been diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus, is being monitored and is currently undergoing treatment,” the base’s press service said in a statement on the US Navy’s website.

The patient is isolated, the authorities are establishing who had contact with him.

As of Sunday, the US Department of defense has diagnosed more than 210 cases of coronavirus infection, including more than 100 among military personnel.
