The Film Academy has introduced new requirements for the Oscar nomination

But all the new requirements of the Film Academy relate to the topic of gender, orientation, race, and physical parameters.

The American film Academy has introduced new rules for selecting applicants for the Best Film category. From 2024, these rules will become mandatory, but in the meantime, you can follow them if you want. To qualify for the leading Oscar, you must meet at least two of the four requirements:

one of the primary or secondary characters and the ensemble as a whole (at least 30%), as well as the central theme of the picture, should affect underrepresented groups: women, racial and ethnic communities, sexual minorities, people with mental or physical injuries;
among the creators of the film must also be representatives of the above groups (at least 30%);
access and opportunity to train at a production Studio, as well as the chance to improve skills for underrepresented groups;
the presence of members of the above groups in positions in the marketing, advertising, and distribution departments.

Separate rules will be introduced for the animation, international, documentary, and short film categories, while the other categories will not be affected.

Recall that the American Film Academy is often criticized for sexism and racism at the Oscars. Society does not like the fact that the vast majority of Academy members are white men of age who cannot adequately evaluate the work of women and people of other skin colors.
