The death of Maradona became known the day before, November 25. The legendary Argentinian was reported to have died in his home after cardiac arrest.

On November 11, Maradona was discharged from the hospital. The ex-footballer underwent surgery for a subdural hematoma. After discharge, Maradona was taken to the clinic for treatment for alcohol addiction.

Diego was last seen in public on October 30 at the match of the 1st round of the Argentinean championship of his team “Gimnasia and Esgrima” with “Patronato” (3: 0), which was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Maradona. Before the match, he was presented with a commemorative plaque. Diego did not stay to watch the game, citing poor health. It was later reported that he was taken to the Ipenza clinic in La Plata, about an hour’s drive from Buenos Aires.
