Thirteen people were killed, and 12 were injured in an explosion and fire at a medical center in Tehran, said Iran’s Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi.
“At the time of the incident, there were 25 people there. Unfortunately, 13 people died: ten women and three men,” Harirchi said.
According to him, seven of the victims were treated by medics on the spot, and five were hospitalized. He also clarified that the explosion occurred in a Tehran clinic.
The cause of the explosion was ignited oxygen cylinders located in the basement of the clinic. When they exploded, they started a fire that spread to the upper floors of the building.
In turn, the Deputy Head of the provincial Governor for security Hamidreza Gudarzi said that the cause of the explosion in the North of the capital of Iran was a gas leak.
