Apple to release mixed reality helmet in 2022

Despite the fact that VR, AR and MR technologies are not so popular now, Apple believes in them and is preparing the first device for release.

This was announced by Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities. According to him, the development of Apple’s mixed and augmented reality technologies will consist of three stages. At the first stage, the Cupertinians are going to release a portable mixed reality helmet. It is already in development and, if everything goes according to plan, it will be shown in 2022.

The device should receive a Sony Micro-OLED display, support for branded services (Apple TV +, Apple Arcade) and a price tag of around $ 1,000. By the way, according to Kuo, the test sample of the gadget weighs 200-300 grams, but by the time the company will try to lighten it down to 100-200 grams.

Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the second phase will include augmented reality glasses, which will be released no earlier than 2025, and the third – contact lenses. They may be presented after 2030. There are no prototypes for these devices yet.
