The European Commission wants to ensure transparency of the “Nord stream-2”

BRUSSELS -The European Commission wants to ensure that “Nord stream- 2” works transparently, the EU now has clear rules that apply to all pipelines that supply gas to the EU, said the representative of the press service of the EC Anna-Kaisa Itkonen at a briefing.

“On the “Nord stream -2″ project: we want to ensure if it is built, that it works transparently and non-discriminatory, with an appropriate level of oversight. We now have clear rules applied to all pipelines through which gas is supplied to the European market,” she said.

Earlier, the European Union adopted an updated Gas Directive, which should now be implemented in the national legislation of the EU countries; its essence is to extend certain rules of the EU gas market to the offshore sections of export gas pipelines. “Nord stream -2,” which began construction before the Directive was adopted, will also have to fall under these rules.
