The general director of the Belgian circuit “Spa-Francorchamps” Nathalie Maillet was found dead in her house on the border with Luxembourg, Motorsport Week reports.
Maillet’s body was found on Sunday and the bodies of a man, presumably her husband, and a woman. Police believe that 51-year-old Maillet and an unknown woman were in a romantic relationship and were killed by her husband, who then committed suicide.
“The police found the lifeless bodies of two women and a man in a house in Gouvy (Belgium), all three with gunshot wounds. According to the preliminary information collected, the man did this intentionally, which led to their death, before committing suicide,” the statement says.
Maillet was appointed General Director of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in June 2016. The Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix will be held at the Spa circuit from August 27 to 29.
