The Democratic Party released the first results of the Iowa Caucuses

Former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders received the most support at the Democratic Party of the United States meetings held in Iowa. This is evidenced by the preliminary results.

According to data obtained from 62% of precincts, Buttigieg received 26.9% of the votes of party activists, while Sanders received 25.1%. In third place is Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren (18.3%), and in fourth place is former US Vice President Joseph Biden (15.6%).

The first US Caucuses of party activists in the current election cycle was held in Iowa on Monday. These meetings, called Caucuses, select delegates who will support a candidate for the Democratic or Republican presidential nomination at upcoming national party conventions. For Republicans, the party meetings ended with a predictable victory for American leader Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, official data on the results of the Democratic Party meetings had to wait almost a whole day. Leading American media stressed that such a long vote count is extremely unusual for the United States and indicates serious problems with the organization of the Caucuses.
