The Chinese Foreign Ministry called on the United States to lift restrictions on officials and government departments of the People’s Republic of China

The ministry noted that Beijing also requires the abolition of visa restrictions for Chinese students.

Beijing is seeking from Washington to lift restrictions imposed by the US government on Chinese officials and government departments. This was stated by Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Xie Feng at talks in Tianjin on Monday with First Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, who arrived in China on an official visit.

“China calls on the United States to lift visa restrictions for members of the Communist Party of China and their families without any conditions, sanctions against Chinese leaders, officials and government departments,” Xie Feng was quoted as saying by the Peng Pai newspaper. According to him, Beijing also demands to lift visa restrictions for Chinese students. The Chinese government is insistently asking Washington to stop putting pressure on Chinese companies in the United States, as well as the Confucius Institutes – training centers where Chinese language and culture are taught in China.
