The Nobel Committee decided to cancel the traditional ceremony of awarding the Nobel Prizes in Stockholm in connection with the spread of coronavirus in the world, according to a press release from the organization on Tuesday.
“The traditional Nobel Prize ceremony at the Stockholm Philharmonic and the traditional banquet at the town hall will be canceled this year. Instead, there will be a live broadcast from the town hall and online meetings with the laureates, during which they will be awarded diplomas and medals,” the report says.
The traditional awards ceremony is held annually in Stockholm on December 10. Winners receive awards from the hands of the king of Sweden.
