It is difficult to establish the exact timeline for completing the operation to remove the grounded container ship in the Suez Canal. It depends on the ship’s reaction, Osama Rabia, head of the administration of the Suez Canal, said at a press conference.
“It is useless to speculate on the date of the end of the operation to remove the ship. Many factors play a role here, including the reaction of the ship to the operation,” Rabia said.
“But we have made progress in the operation. On Friday evening, the ship’s propeller started working after a few days’ downtimes,” Rabia said.
He stressed that ships of much larger size than the Ever Given had previously successfully navigated the canal.
