The Americans will be taken to the Kabul airport through special collection points

The U.S. authorities recommended that U.S. citizens and green card holders not try to get to the Kabul airport directly but go to special collection points, from where they will be taken to the air harbor, The Washington Post reports, citing a recording of a phone call between U.S. agencies that came to its disposal.

“My advice to these people is to register and get away from the gate (of the airport) because now it is impossible to get there through the gate,” the newspaper quotes a senior Department of State official as saying, explaining such a measure by the chaotic conditions around the airport.

The U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan also recommended that American citizens refrain from traveling to the Kabul airport without a special invitation and urged them to immediately leave the three entrances to the facility where people are being evacuated from the country.
