The American Ambassador was summoned to the Chinese Foreign Ministry

The American Ambassador to China was summoned to the country’s foreign Ministry after the introduction of US sanctions due to the actions of the Chinese government in Hong Kong, media reports say.

Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang summoned the US Ambassador to China, Terry Branstad. The Deputy Head of the Department made a presentation to the Ambassador in connection with the adoption of the law “On the autonomy of Hong Kong.”

“China strongly opposes and condemns US behavior. To protect its interests, China will fight the United States and impose sanctions against American organizations and individuals,” the Chinese edition of Global Times reported.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that Beijing would impose sanctions in response to the adoption of the law “On the autonomy of Hong Kong” in the United States.
The head of the White House, Donald Trump, canceled economic privileges for Hong Kong and signed a decree to hold China accountable.
