The American corporation Tesla, which produces electric cars, will again begin to accept bitcoins as payment for its products when the receipt of this type of cryptocurrency becomes more environmentally friendly. This was announced on Twitter by the head of the company, Elon Musk.
The entrepreneur noted that in the future, “Tesla will again allow bitcoin transactions.” As explained by Musk, this will happen when there is evidence that the persons involved in the generation of this cryptocurrency receive about 50% of the energy needed for this from environmentally friendly sources.
The businessman also said that Tesla had previously sold about 10% of its assets in bitcoin. According to him, this was done “to confirm that bitcoins can be easily sold without fluctuations in the market.” Musk published this message as a comment to the publication, which cited allegations about his possible involvement in cryptocurrency fraud.
Earlier this year, Tesla announced that it has invested $1.5 billion in bitcoin and is starting to accept this cryptocurrency as payment for its products. In May, Musk said that Tesla is suspending the acceptance of bitcoin because the methods of obtaining this cryptocurrency are not environmentally friendly.
