Tesla will reduce the number of employees at a factory in Nevada by 75%

Tesla plans to reduce the number of people employed at a factory in Nevada by about 75% because of the coronavirus pandemic, said Story County head of administration Austin Osborne on Thursday.

This decision was made after Tesla’s partner, Japanese battery supplier Panasonic Corp, announced its intention to reduce the workload at its Nevada plant before closing it for two weeks. “Tesla told us that in the coming days, the Story County Gigafactory will reduce the number of employees in production by about 75%”, Austin Osbourne said in a statement on the county’s website.

The company’s Nevada plant produces electric motors and batteries for the popular Tesla Model 3 electric car.
