State Department: The US suspends visa issuance worldwide due to coronavirus

American diplomatic missions will continue to provide services to US citizens abroad.

The United States suspended the issuance of all immigration and nonimmigrant visas in most countries of the world due to the coronavirus outbreak, State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said.

Ortagus did not specify the consulates in which countries the visa services were suspended. The state Department spokeswoman added that American diplomatic missions will continue to provide emergency visa services “if resources allow.” In addition, all services for US citizens will continue to be provided.

The diplomatic missions will resume issuing visas as soon as possible, Ortagus added, without specifying the period in question.
