Tests of engines for the spacecraft Crew Dragon with which SpaceX Elon Musk plans to deliver astronauts to the ISS and back, ended with an “anomaly” on the test capsule of the ship.
“The initial tests were successfully completed, but the final test led to an anomaly on the test bench,” SpaceX reported. The company said that it is conducting an investigation and working closely with partners from NASA.
“NASA has been informed about the results of the SpaceX Static Fire test and the anomaly that occurred during the final test,” space Agency administrator Jim Bridenstine said on his Twitter. “That’s why we conduct tests. We will learn, make the necessary adjustments and move forward safely with our commercial manned launch program,” he added.
The publication Florida Today the first reported on the emergency during the tests of SpaceX. It published photos showing orange smoke rising above the air force base at Cape Canaveral in Florida.
