SpaceX launches launch vehicle with 54 satellites

The previous launch of SpaceX with a batch of Starlink satellites was carried out at the end of last week.

SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 launch vehicle on Saturday with 52 Starlink microsatellites, as well as two satellites from other companies – Tyvak and Capella Space. The broadcast was conducted on the SpaceX website.

The launch from the site of the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida took place at 18:56 East Coast time. The previous launch of SpaceX with a batch of Starlink satellites was carried out at the end of last week.

The first stage of the launch vehicle was previously used for seven launches. SpaceX intends to once again return it to Earth. It is expected that a few minutes after the launch, the stage will automatically descend smoothly to the floating platform Of Course I Still Love You in the Atlantic Ocean. This technology allows the company to reduce the cost of the next media launch. The Starlink network is designed to provide Internet access by deploying a large number of small spacecraft weighing up to 500 kg in near-Earth orbit. According to SpaceX, the launch of a total of 11 thousand satellites and their commissioning will cost $10 billion.
