Space tug “Zeus” with the help of a laser will disable satellites

The Russian nuclear tug “Zeus” will be able to disable enemy satellites and “shoot” a laser.

Specialists from the Arsenal design bureau (part of the state corporation Roscosmos) announced that the Zeus nuclear space tug being created in Russia would disable enemy satellites with a powerful electromagnetic pulse. In addition, he will destroy the enemy’s orbiters with a laser.

Judging by the documents of KB “Arsenal”, in 2018-2019 the experts of the bureau conducted a special study. The goal of the engineers is to find out whether it is possible to use the space tug not only for remote sensing of the Earth, but also for influencing radio electronic means using EM radiation and a laser. In addition, “Zeus” will have to solve civilian problems – to provide communications, deliver cargo in the Earth’s orbit and even to the Moon.

The nuclear tug will be designed for flights to the moon and planets of the solar system. It got the name “Zeus”, and the research and development work itself – “Nuclon”.
